This one is for our dads...It's time to create your dynamic duo!
What's your superhero identity? Are you faster than a speeding bullet? Do you have prophetic visions? Perhaps you can turn invisible?
We have an amazing opportunity gifted to our school for an afternoon by Mengineering(R) for dads and sons/ daughters to discuss, decide and draw their superheroes with the expert guidance and tutorage of Andrew Hore from funnyworksoz.com.
The workshop allows 10-15 father-son/daughter spots for this awesome opportunity. It will be a first in, first served basis. I've been advised the ideal age range is 8+. Please reply via the Sacred Heart Parents and Carers Facebook page if you are able to attend. Alternatively, if you don't have Facebook please ring the front office.
Tuesday 26 November: 5-6:30pm (pizza provided for our hungry heroes!).

I have worked at St Matthew’s Page, St Joseph’s O’Connor, St Thomas More’s Campbell and was at St Benedict’s Narrabundah before being appointed to Sacred Heart Pearce.
I grew up on a farm near Crookwell.
I have had many pets as I was growing up including fish, birds, guinea pigs, cats and dogs. Our gorgeous dog, Bella was with Martyn and I for 17 years and brought us much joy.
Chocolate or hot chips: Neither chips or chocolate – I prefer cheese and olives for a snack.
My favourite adult novel is April Fool’s Day by Bryce Courtney.
If I could be a superhero or have a superpower, I would like to have speed, like the Flash, so that I could do the things I don’t like (eg. house work) and spend more time doing the things I love (eg reading a book).
If I could go to any country in the world, at the moment I would like to visit Croatia as I have heard so many wonderful things about it.
My favourite funny quote from a student is recently when I was taking a class one of the child said “You’re a teacher? You’re kidding!”
An interesting fact everyone may not know me when I played competition cricket I was opening bat or first drop and played in silly mid-on or slips when fielding.

K-6 Complete Co-education
The K-6 Complete co-education meeting took place earlier this term. This informal discussion was attended by parents/carers, former and current students aimed to respond to the parent/carer survey sent out at the end of Term 3.
Sacred Heart is viewed as a close-knit nurturing environment where students enjoy having a close relationship with their peers and teachers. This dosen't always continue into high school. Inquiry-based curriculum continues to build our children’s skills and knowledge from Kindergarten through to Year 6.
There are a multitude of leadership opportunities in Years 5/6 that allow the senior students to interact with the junior students. This encourages cross year friendships to form whilst developing important leadership skills.
There are many co-curricular activities for the children to take part in.There are also several ways the school can communicate with parents/carers.
Some facts to share:
- Sacred Heart teaching staff is 23% male.
- Student gender ratio in 2019 Kindergarten - Year 3 is 55% male.
- Year 6 is 14% male.
- Year 5 is 17% male.
- Year 4 is 25% male.
What will 2020 look like?

ActSmart School Awards
On Wednesday 20th November the Environmental Leaders with Mr Fox attended the ActSmart School Awards at GIO Stadium. The awards celebrate excellence in the following areas; waste and recycling, energy, water, school grounds and biodiversity and efforts to embed sustainability in the curriculum.
The awards aim to recognise innovative sustainability projects and outstanding contributions made by students, teachers and environmental teams.
The Sacred Heart Environmental Leaders were nominated for the work they have done this year with their sustainability projects and initiatives.
Mr Fox was recognised for his outstanding contribution to sustainability at Sacred Heart and was presented a Highly Commended Award for Sustainable Leadership in a Primary School.
Congratulations to Mr Fox and the Environmental Leaders.
EnviroMentors visited Sacred Heart this week providing an education program to improve the student’s awareness of sustainability. All classes participated in the module “In The Bin” and investigated the benefits of avoiding waste, reusing and recycling. The students also learnt about littering and illegal dumping and ways to promote positive behaviour with waste.
