Kids Tennis Kindergarten - Year 1
Dear Parents and Carers,
Our focus for Term 3 was on ‘Excellence’. I hope you have enjoyed sharing in the examples of excellence we have included each week. Sacred Heart is a wonderful school which continues to aim for excellence in all we do. This does not mean that it is always smooth sailing. Excellence is seen in the way each student, staff and family seeks to work together, in a manner that is respectful, restorative and solution-focused that sets us apart and unites us as a community.
Fete Wrap-Up
I have had the privilege of being a part of an excellent fete committee for the past two years. Emily, Patricia, Kat, Meg and Sharon worked tirelessly to create a community event that goes well beyond simply fundraising. The team always pulled together, respecting and valuing the talents each person contributed. On behalf of the Sacred Heart community I wish to thank the Fete Committee for their leadership of our wonderful fete.
And what a day it was! Some people I spoke to reflected that the rain lifted the spirit of the fete, as you got to talk to everybody as you moved around the school. We hope you enjoy remembering the moments captured in the photo gallery below.
So many people to thank:
- To our many volunteers, from Wednesday to Monday, we could not have done it without you. We thank you and hope that you made many new friends along the way.
- To our sponsors, for your support of Sacred Heart and you generous donations to our fundraising efforts.
- To our staff members for your time, skills, enthusiasm and flexibility over many weeks. Even wet sponges to the face couldn’t cover the smiles!
- To the students who helped teachers and family members with numerous tasks, volunteered on stalls and joined in the fun of the day.
- For every family who sold raffle tickets, purchased fete books, cooked cakes, donated goods, delivered pamphlets and came along on Saturday we thank you. We created wonderful memories of the importance of community for all our children.
Congratulations to all our prize winners. The list can be found on our school website. https://shpspearce.schoolzineplus.com/event/2299
The committee will have one more meeting to wrap things and evaluate. If you have any feedback you wish to contribute, which affirms and improves future events, please contact me personally or via email.
It will take us a few weeks to collate all the finances. At that point we will announce the fundraising total in the newsletter. We look forward to utilising the funds towards the rejuvenation of the internal courtyard.
Thank you all the wonderful sponsors.

K-6 Complete
I ask all families to read the letter from the Community Council Sub-Committee which is being emailed today and link here Sacred Heart is a co-ed school from K-6. In recent years the number of boys remaining in the senior years has been of concern. ‘K-6 Complete’ is our strategy to open a conversation and highlight the advantages to girls and boys of completing their entire primary education at Sacred Heart. Please join in the conversation.
Term 4 News
Uniform
Summer Uniform, including hats, are worn during Term 4. The Uniform policy can be found on our website. The clothing pool is open Fridays 2.45pm - 3.30pm and Mondays 8.30am - 9.00am.
Recess time during Term 4
The staff have decided to trial during Term 4 a change to the recess routine between 1.45-2.15pm. From the first day of term, the children will come out to play first and then teachers will stop play at 2.05pm to signal the start of eating time. This repeats the order from lunchtime and will hopefully ensure the children take the time to eat and toilet before going back into class for the afternoon session.

On Friday 25th October, Sacred Heart is hosting our annual Grandparents day. Find the note linked here Grandparents Day and Special Friends Day. It will be sent home in paper copy on the first day of term. The RSVP needs to be returned by the 18th October.
It has been an amazing and rewarding ten weeks as Acting Principal while Mrs Staines has had well-deserved leave. It was lovely to see her looking relaxed and refreshed at the fete last Saturday. I thank everyone for their support of the Sacred Heart staff as we took on various changed roles during Term 3. I wish you a restful and safe term break. We start Term 4 on Monday 14th October.
Yours Faithfully,
Acting Principal
Stage 3 Renewable Energy Science Exhibition
On Wednesday, the Stage 3 students created a Renewable Energy Science Fair where they brought in their model representations of their chosen renewable energy source. We had wind turbines, solar powered houses, geothermal models, wave technology and hydroelectricity. The students did a fantastic job at creating their model but what was most impressive was their detailed explanation of how their energy system worked. Thank you to the rest of the school who came to see the model and a HUGE thank you to all the parents, grand parents and carers who took time out of their day to come and see what all the students had done.
We recently welcomed Start Smart to deliver their free, financial education workshops to students from Year 1 to Year 6. Delivered in class to students by a facilitator, Start Smart changes the way young people learn about money. By making money management interactive, engaging and fun, our students were equipped with the confidence and competence they need to make smart decisions about money.
Our school has proudly joined the Commonwealth Bank’s Start Smart Program in its mission to improve the financial literacy of Australia’s young people. Overall, the program proved to be a highly beneficial experience for students and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Students will also be participating in financial literacy activities within the classroom. We hope that these workshops and lessons prepare the students for their future saving and spending.
