Dear Community,
We look forward to our Mother’s Day breakfast tomorrow, from 8 am to our Mother’s Day Mass at 9:30 in the Church. This is always one of the highlights of the year. We are looking forward to seeing families with us.
A mother is one of the two most influential persons in a child's life; in some situations, Mum is the most important person. Commitment to our family is the greatest gift we parents can give our children because such commitment will shape our children’s happiness and future.
We want to invite all Mums, grandmothers, or significant others to breakfast tomorrow from 8 a.m. Please also keep in your prayers those who won’t be able to have their Mum attend this Friday.
WHY GOD MADE MUMS?
This crossed my desk this week, and I had a chuckle! (Answers were given by Year 2 children—not at Sacred Heart!!)
Why did God make mothers?
- She is the only one who knows where the sticky tape is.
- Mostly to clean the house.
- To help us out of there when we were getting born.
How did God make mothers?
- Magic plus superpowers and a lot of stirring.
- God made my Mum just the same as he made me. He just used bigger parts.
What ingredients are mothers made of?
- God makes mothers out of clouds, angel hair, everything nice in the world, and one dab of mean.
Why did God give you your mother and not some other Mum?
- We’re related.
- God knew she likes me a lot more than other people’s Mums like me.
Why did your Mum marry your Dad?
- My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mum eats a lot.
- My Grandma says that Mum didn’t have her thinking cap on.
What kind of little girl was your Mum?
- I don’t know because I wasn’t there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
Enrolment Reminder
Please remember all Kindergarten enrolment applications are required by the 31st of May. If you know families wishing to enrol for 2025, please encourage them to jump online. We already have a good number returned for kindergarten 2025. We are hosting another Open Day on Wednesday, 22 May, from 8:00 am-11 am and 3.30-6 pm. Please encourage those thinking of enrolling to visit our school. For children enrolling in Systemic Secondary schools (MacKillop Catholic College, Merici College and St Clare’s College), forms must be completed by Friday, 31 May.
School Uniform
Being part of Sacred Heart means adhering to the correct uniform. It makes it very difficult on staff when students do not follow the uniform policy at school. When you send your child to Sacred Heart, you also choose to send them in the uniform; that is an integral part of our ethos. The Sacred Heart uniform policy reinforces pride in students' appearance, instils recognition of themselves as an essential part of the school community, and assists in developing pride in representing their school. Equality, health and safety, and expense also contribute to establishing the Sacred Heart Uniform Policy. Please ensure that your child always wears the correct uniform.
The significant issues are not wearing black school shoes or navy school and track pants; wearing tracksuit pants instead of school pants, and sports jumpers with the normal uniform. Please let me know if you need support purchasing or accessing uniform items. A copy of the Sacred Heart Uniform Policy is available on our website. Your co-operation in uniform matters is appreciated.
Disco – Claim the Date!
We will host a school disco (K-6) on Friday, 31 May, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the school hall. Please claim the date! More information will follow.
In faith and partnership,
David Austin
