3rd Sunday of Advent
This weekend we light the third candle on the Advent Wreath. It is called the 'Shepherd’s Candle', and is pink because rose is a liturgical colour for joy. It is meant to remind us of the joy that the world experienced at the birth of Jesus, as well as the joy that the faithful have reached at the midpoint of Advent.
Rejoice in the Lord always;
and again I say, Rejoice.
Let your gentleness be known to everyone.
The Lord is near
Dear Parents and Carers,
As the end of the year approaches and Christmas draws near, the teachers and children are preparing carols to entertain families over the next couple of days. Keep an eye out for the link in a COMPASS notification.
We thank all staff for their time and effort in preparing the children. We thank Mrs Riley for her work across the school and with the choir during the term. We also thank Mr Fox in bringing it all together and publishing for your viewing.
Thank you
We congratulate Mrs Riley, Ms Hidegarde and the students in our choir on their wonderful performance at the Pearce shops on Monday afternoon. The group brought much joy to the carollers who gathered for the Twilight Community Carols.
COVID - 19 news
Catholic Education is sending out 5 Rapid Antigen Tests for each student in the coming days to support families as COVID cases increase in the ACT. These will be packaged in a brown paper bag that will be labelled with the family name. They will be sent home with the eldest child. We will send out a push through COMPASS to let families know when they are ready to be sent out.
Take care and keep safe
Twilight Fair
We are still wrapping up the final pieces of the Twilight Fair, so please check next week's newsletter.
On behalf of our community we are currently sending out letters of appreciation to our sponsors and helpers.
Thank you for being a part of our Fair.
In a busy world, juggling the chaos of life,
you chose to say yes to doing more.
Thanks for being a Twilight Legend!
Online Behaviours
A timely reminder to parents to monitor your child’s interactions online, especially as we head into holidays.
We have become aware of one messenger group, which a few Stage 3 students are members of, which contains unfriendly sentiments and language. We have directed families to report it. The eSafety Commissioner has support guides and reporting links, visit https://www.esafety.gov.au/
Holiday tips to be sun safe |
Use the SunSmart app to get notified when UV levels are 3 or above Even a car trip can expose you to UV, so don’t forget your sunscreen before a long drive Shade can reduce your UV exposure by 50% or more so take an umbrella or cover to the beach this summer Even though sunscreen says it is 4 hours water resistant, please reapply every 2 hours to keep yourself protected. If you find yourself forgetting to reapply, set an alarm on your phone. Make sure to do the 5 sun protection measures: slip, slop, slap, seek and slide! |
Yours faithfully,

The role is very flexible but often entails:

- Arranging age appropriate catch-ups for families to meet each other
- Support chain if a family in the class needs a helping hand
- Something special for the teacher’s birthday
- Supporting the school in communicating with parents about special events
If you are interested in continuing with the role, taking it on or even sharing it with someone, please talk with Anne Staines or Danielle Hartnett (2022 CC Parent Rep Coordinator).
School Sport
It’s a fantastic time of year to start thinking about how students can make the transition from school sport to sporting clubs with many local sporting organisations now taking registrations for summer. To promote club sport to families in our SHPS community please find below the link to help students make the move from school to club sport. We encourage you to use the Sporting Schools Find a Club page, where parents can explore more than 35 sports and find a club in their local area for your child to get engaged and start a lifelong love of sport.
