Walkathon Raffle 
Last Friday, the school gathered with lots of excitement as the Walkathon Raffle was drawn. Children with a winning ticket were able to choose from the many prizes, which included sporting equipment, books and toys. The major prizes were won by Ezra. B, Nicholas. H and Sophie. B.
Congratulations to all students who won a prize.
Thank you to the Sacred Heart school community for supporting the walkathon. We raised over $6000 which will go towards updating the wireless access point and audio equipment in the hall.
New functions on the COMPASS online platform
Currently we have only been using the Compass Parent Portal for parents to access the report cards. We are now introducing a range of new functions to streamline communications for staff and families.
We encourage all your child’s parents/guardians to have a login to the Compass platform. To facilitate this, we have sent out login details to parents and guardians who have an email already in our database but have not yet been active on Compass.
Starting today we are introducing three new functions. Over the next term we may introduce further functions as appropriate. Detailed instructions are linked below.
Parents can access Compass via the Mobile App or your Desktop Browser. They are a little different to each other, so we ask you to explore both.
New Function – ATTENDANCE
Parents now submit absence notes through Compass. You can add an attendance note for your child for previous unexplained and current absences.
Note: All correspondence regarding absences must now be lodged through Compass only. To lessen staff workload and paper use, we are asking parents and guardians to cease the use of SZapp, email and paper notes for attendance.
Whole day absence: Parents are asked to complete this on the day of the absence if at all possible. Within the Compass platform a school day is 8.00am – 5.00pm. Please do not change these default times.
Partial attendance/absence: If your child departs during the day, our office staff will complete the Compass departure note. If your child arrives after 9.00am, parents/carers must bring their child to the office. Our office staff will then add the details to the Compass arrival note.
New Function – NOTIFICATIONS
We are phasing out the use of SZapp for school notifications. To ease the transition, as of today, all notifications will be sent via both Compass and SZapp. We plan to discontinue using SZapp on Thursday 11th August.
Notifications appear as ‘Latest news’ on the Compass homepage and are also emailed to your provided address.
Action: If you are using the Compass app on your mobile phone/device, please ensure you have switched on notifications using your device settings.
New Function – CALENDAR
Our Sacred Heart Community Calendar is now available on the Compass App. It will continue to be available on the website.
Not being used in Compass – conference/interview bookings or payments.
We will continue to use Qkr! for all online payments. We will not be accepting any payments through the Compass platform. The costs incurred for processing a payment made in error through Compass will be passed onto the person making the incorrect payment.
We ask for your patience as we all learn these new systems. As always please contact your child’s teachers if you have any concerns about your child. If you have problems or need support using the new functions on Compass, please contact the office. This will enable us to address common issues quickly and to send out the solution to the community.

Tennis Programs starting again in Week 3.
Rising Star Tennis Academy is starting a five week school program from Week 3, Monday 1st August and will run through till the end of Week 7, Friday 2nd September.
The Red Ball Play and Train Program, which is aimed at students between yrs 2-6, runs Mondays after school from 3:15 - 4:15pm. These sessions will be held at Sacred Heart on the tennis courts at the back of the school.
The Whizz Kids Program, aimed at students yrs K-2, will run Tuesday during lunchtimes from 11:00am – 11:30pm. This program will be open for our Playgroup participants as well.
The cost of these programs are:
$160 for the Play and Train Program.
$140 for the Whizz Kids Program.
These can be paid via Qkr.
If you are interested in your child participating in these sessions please email Mr Mitchell to register your interest in the session you wish your child to participate in. Expressions of interest are due by Thursday 28th July. Mr Mitchell will email all parents who have expressed interest by Friday 29th July.
All equipment needed for the program will be provided by Rising Star Tennis Academy and Sacred Heart Primary. On a non-sports uniform day, the children are asked to bring a pair of runners that they get changed into before the start of the session. They do not need to get changed into a spare pair of clothes. If it is their sports day they are to just wear their sports uniform.

Little Hearts Playgroup
Little Hearts Playgroup has recommenced for Term 3 with lots of fun indoor activities.
Playgroup provides children aged between 2 and 4 years an opportunity to grow and develop through play, and provides their parents and caregivers opportunity to connect with their community.
Please contact the office if you would like to be a part of the fun!
Are you able to help Playgroup? We are looking for donations of wooden puzzles suitable for pre-schoolers. If your children have outgrown their wooden puzzles we would love them.
Any donations can be left at the front office.
Dance
Stage 2 in Dance today were working on the element of time and a dance from Eastern Europe.
